Brett Crossland  MS, CSCS

Brett is unofficially the only person in the nation who has won a National Championship in Olympic Weightlifting and completed an Ironman Triathlon.  He also has unmatched experience in the strength and conditioning world from working with thousands of athletes in over 40 sports.

Currently Brett resides in Wichita Falls Tx with his wife Ashley and daughter Abigail.  He is the Strength & Conditioning coach at Texas Womans University where he is also completing his PhD. in Exercise Physiology.

 

Prior to this, Brett was a Performance Specialist with the U.S. Military.  As a contracted employee he developed comprehensive strength and conditioning plans for our special forces troops on a daily basis.  Before working with the military, he was employed by Brown University as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach where he was responsible for the training of 18 Men's and Women's Sports.

 

Prior to Brown, he served as an Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach at the University of Pennsylvania.  At Penn, he was responsible for 9 Men's and Women's varsity sports as well as the football team.

 

Before coming to Penn, Brett worked for the United States Olympic Committee in Lake Placid, NY.  With the USOC he able to follow the training of several world class athletes including several Olympic gold medalist.

 

Brett got his start in strength and conditioning as a graduate assistant at Midwestern State University.  Here he learned under renowned strength coaches Mark Rippetoe, and Glenn Pendlay.  He was also fortunate enough to conduct research under Dr. Lon Kilgore who is now a professor at the University of West Scotland where he teaches Clinical Exercise & Health Science.  At MSU he also spent 2 years as the Head Olympic Weightlifting Coach that had several top 10 finishes at the National Championships.

 

Brett first became interested in the field of strength and conditioning while competing as an olympic weightlifter at Midwestern State University.  While competing Brett won 2 individual National Championships as well as several team National Championships.  He was a member of the U.S. Junior National team and also represented the U.S. at the Junior Pan American Games and the Under 23 World Championships.

 

A lifelong goal of Bretts was to complete an Ironman triathlon.  On August 11, 2012, Brett achieved that goal,  finishing the innagural Ironman U.S. Championships in a time of 11:00:47.  He remains competitive in the sport of triathlon to this day and has aspirations of qualifying for the Ironman World Championships in Kona.
